VERTEX

Astronomically, it is the intersection of the Prime Vertical and the Ecliptic. In astrology, it represents fated or karmic encounters. Its conjunctions and oppositions are important.
CONJUNCTION When there is a 0° distance between the planets, they are in conjunction. In fact, it is not an aspect because the planets in conjunction are not aspected; they do not see each other. However, physically they are together. This may represent a unity and cooperation between the conjunct planets as well as suppression.
OPPOSITION When the planets are 180° away from each other, then they are in opposition. It is the most negative aspect. It represents an opposition, conflict and polarity.
TRINE When the planets are 120° away from each other, then they are in trine. It is the most positive aspect. Energy flows spontaneously without any stress.
SQUARE When the planets are 90° away from each other, then they are in square. It is one of the negative aspects. It represents effort, disagreement, a need for conformation and tests.
SEXTILE When the planets are 60° away from each other, then they are in sextile. There is an easy flow and cooperation between the aspected planets. It is not as strong as a trine as it requires effort.
